| Bade's
Charm comes from her good-natured and unrefined
folkways. |
 |
 |
From
here you can feel a continuous stream of vitality
flowing in the suburban fields, in the flourishing
downtown where it becomes a joint of tradition and
modernization. She merges the deserved feature of
a rural town, which is reluctant to part with the
traditional rural easiness, comfort and affection,
while not neglecting to catch up with the high-speed
Knowledge Age's new fashion-oriented, variation-oriented
and competitiveness enhancement of the ideological
trend as well. |

There are several transition processes
in the origin of "Bade". Formerly Bade was called
"Bede Chu" (eight houses, Fukien dialect). Some
people said that it was called "Bede Chu" because
there were eight families who had built their houses here.
These houses then became a village around the 12th year
of Chien-Lung (1747) of the Ching Dynasty. The others
said that there were altogether eight surnames of settlers
who reclaimed the land from southern Fukien in the 10th
year of Chien Lung, and it was called "Bede Chu"
because each surname had built a house. There is another
version: this place was reclaimed in the 6th year of Chien
Lung of the Ching Dynasty, and the whole area was divided
into Front Village, Back Village, Rice Courtyard, Joint
Cities, Old City, Outer City, Residentia Mansion, and
Rental Warehouse, hence there was the wording of "Bede
Chu". As to "Bede Chu", in 1920 it was
once renamed "Bede", and then again to "Bade"
(the pronunciation is similar to "Bede" in the
Fukien dialect) in 1936. Afterwards, the city experienced
various administrative division reforms and was renamed
Bade Village, Taoyuan County in April 1946, and finally
was the formally reformed Bade City on January 1, 1995.

The Bade City agriculture is developed
mainly in delicate rice and vegetables, and it still
preserves the national treasure -"wild-grown
rice". The city flower of Bade is King Ixora,
while the camphor tree is the city tree, which stand
in great numbers on both sides of the roadway, and
could be seen everywhere in the city. Owing to the
simple and primitive nature, everyone here possesses
a heart of gold that allows them to preserve, in
a godly and affectionate mood, each view, each substance,
each flower and each tree of Bade. Compared to the
gorgeous and noisy metropolis, Bade City's primitive
manners are more intense and interesting. The city's
profound connotation is constantly being interpreted,
whether it's the centennial mansion, the long-standing
temple, or even the legend of the old Red Cedar,
all these talk-about has enhanced the city with
an enduring and infinite fascination.
